Hanah Cho

Business Reporter

Hanah Cho has been a reporter at The Baltimore Sun for the past four years, covering everything from courts to education to government.

 

She has spent the last two years as a business reporter, writing about workplace issues, entrepreneurs and the media. She is now covering the mutual fund/money management industry as well as writing about small businesses. A New Jersey native, she completed an undergraduate degree at Rutgers University and obtained a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Maryland. She has worked at The Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press and interned at the Detroit News, the (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the (Bergen, N.J.) Record.

 

 

Ilan Greenberg

Freelance Journalist

New York, New York

 

Ilan Greenberg is a freelance writer based in New York and an Associate Fellow with The Asia Society. From February, 2006 to August 2007, Greenberg worked as the Central Asia reporter for The New York Times, writing breaking news articles and features from five countries. Since 2002, he has written from the former Soviet Union, mostly in Central Asia, for publications including The New York Times Magazine, Slate, Travel & Leisure, and The Wall Street Journal. His New York Times Magazine featured on Turkmenistan was cited for honorary mention in the book, The Best American Travel Writing 2004 (The Best American Series). Greenberg was a recipient of a 2005 Knight International Journalism Fellowship. He also was awarded a 2004 Ruhr Grant from the University of Dortmund and the Erich Brost Institute for International Journalism in Germany. For the past four years Greenberg has also conducted research and written editorial reports for The World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland. From 2000 – 2002, he worked as a regional reporter for The Asian Wall Street Journal, in Hong Kong. From 1991 – 2000, Greenberg lived in San Francisco, where he wrote about emerging technologies for a variety of publications, including US News & World Report, Salon, New Scientist, and Technology Review. Born in Chicago, he is proficient in Russian.

 

 

 

Eric Scholl

Eric J. Scholl created, developed and launched the pioneering Yahoo! FinanceVision interactive video news service.  Prior to his work at Yahoo!, Scholl was executive producer of MONEYLINE WITH LOU DOBBS at CNN.  Scholl also worked for NBC in Hong Kong, where he launched CNBC Asia, and for NHK Television in Tokyo, where he was Managing Editor for daily news programs that were seen on ABC, CNBC, and SkyTV.  Scholl has a George Foster Peabody Award for his work at CNN, and a Columbia University Innovation award as well as a Webby award for Best Broadband site for Yahoo! FinanceVision.

 

Scholl is currently under contract with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) series “Nightly Business Report” with a particular focus on Asia including the Indian Subcontinent.  “Nightly Business Report” is the most watched business news program on U.S. television.

 

Scholl also owns and operates his own production company, which participates in a wide range of projects in media and the arts.  Clients include: Microsoft, BBDO and TD Ameritrade.  Scholl produced the theatrical film “Flannel Pajamas” which was selected by the Sundance Film Festival.

 

 

Shirley Smith

Shirley Smith is a veteran broadcast journalist who has worked for the Associated Press (current), UPI Radio Network, Mutual Broadcasting, and several other radio and newspaper entities. She has a Master of Arts degree and has had numerous free-lance articles newspaper, magazine and internet articles published. In addition, she has written travel articles that have been published in hundreds of newspapers and their Web sites and has researched, written, voiced and produced specialized ‘podcasts’ on a variety of news and feature topics.

 

 

Marc Stewart

News Reporter

Marc Stewart reports for Channel Four News at Ten. His reports cover the news of the day as well as political and business related stories. Most recently, Stewart reported from Central Mexico on the Perry and Arthur March conspiracy murder case.

 

Marc joined WSMV in June 2005 after serving as an anchor and reporter for our NBC sister station, WBIR-TV in Knoxville. He has also worked in Lansing, Michigan and Detroit.

 

Since arriving in Tennessee, he has covered some of the state’s biggest stories, including the ouster of UT President John Shumaker, the government shutdown at the State Capitol and the killer tornados that struck Morgan County. He also traveled with the military to California on a training mission. In addition, he covered the treatment of several East Tennessee children at Shriners Hospital in Ohio. He has also followed the trials of Dr. Jack Kevorkian and the auto talks in Michigan.

 

In June 2001, he spent two weeks traveling throughout Germany and Belgium on a fellowship from the Radio/TV News Directors’ Foundation.

 

Stewart is a graduate of Michigan State University‘s James Madison College where he majored in International Relations. Stewart also spent time at the University of Brussels, Belgium and at NATO as a student.

 

In his free time, Stewart is an avid cyclist, having completed several century rides. He also finished the Country Music Marathon in 2001 and the Half-Marathon in 2002 and 2006. He’s also interested in commercial aviation and country music.

 

 

Thomas Walsh

Business Columnist

Tom Walsh is the business columnist for the Detroit Free Press, where he has worked since 1982.  He was a city desk reporter, bureau chief, business editor and projects editor before assuming his current role in December 2001.

 

He was a member of the board of governors of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers from 1995-98, and a Jefferson fellow in Pacific Rim Studies at the East-West Center in 1990.

 

As business editor, he initiated and supervised a journalist exchange program, sending Free Press automotive writer David Morrow to work at the offices of Chunichi Shimbun in Nagoya, Japan, and hosting Chunichi correspondent Atsushi Honda to work in Detroit for a year.

Walsh graduated in 1972 from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management.

 

 

Mia Zuckerkandel

Mia Zuckerkandel is currently the producer of the 6pm newscast for KPIX-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Zuckerkandel has been a producer at KPIX since 2002.  Prior to taking over the 6pm broadcast, she produced other daily newscasts for the station, as well as breaking news coverage and coverage of special events.  Her shows have received several honors, including “Best Iraq War Coverage” and “Best Special Programming.”

 

Before coming to KPIX, Zuckerkandel worked for KRON-TV, then the NBC affiliate in the Bay Area.  She began her career in television there as an intern and worked her way up to Executive Producer of Special Projects.
